Shirley Mae Wentzell 1928 2020

Obituary of Shirley Mae Wentzell
Shirley Mae Wentzell, age 92 of Indian Point, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 in Shoreham Village, Chester. Born in Martin’s Point, she was the daughter of the late William and Idella (Rafuse) Hirtle.
Shirley was an expert rug hooker, a voracious reader, and an avid bingo player. She also loved a good laugh, a bit of dancing, and a glass of wine. She was a master at making Solomon Gundy, which was an annual Christmas treat. Her happiest moments were spent at our hunting camp in Walden every fall. The arrival of her granddaughters surpassed all her other interests as she became a loving and devoted ‘Nanny’.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her daughter, Margaret Wentzell (Paul Belliveau), Mahone Bay; granddaughters, Laura Wentzell (Sinan Terzioglu), Mahone Bay; Rebecca Wentzell, Martin’s River; great-grandson, Easton Terziolgu, Mahone Bay; devoted sister Emily Hirtle, Mahone Bay; brothers, William Hirtle (Ruth), Martin’s Point; Kenneth Hirtle, Mahone Bay.
In addition to her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her son, Arnold Lynn Wentzell; her husband, Walter (Ben) Wentzell; sisters, Dawn, Betty, and Gladys.
Thank you to the caring and compassionate staff at Shoreham Village, Chester.
Cremation will be followed by a graveside service for the family at the Indian Point Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Shoreham Village Foundation. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4P 1B9 (902-679-2822).
