Shirley Mae Blanche Nason (Wood)
On April 3rd, 2020 our dear mother, Shirley Mae Blanche Nason (Wood) passed away while staying with family in Nova Scotia. Born in 1931 in Harvey Station, NB she had an abiding love of her hometown and her cottage on Oromocto Lake. Married for 69 years to her High School sweetheart, David A. Nason who predeceased her in 2017, they raised two children. With David she enjoyed many happy years sailing the Saint John River and living in their home overlooking the Bay of Fundy at Chance Harbour. Shirley was an avid gardener, beautiful knitter, and loved to spend hours observing birds and animals. Although small in stature, she was a brave, feisty and a strong woman who will be missed so very much by her loving family. She deeply loved her grandchildren, and found great joy in being a grandmother.
Shirley was the fourth child of the late Lloyd and Laura Wood she is predeceased by her sisters Fran (Ken), Eleanor (Glen), Marjorie (Ron), and her brother Murray (Pat).
She is survived by her children, Kent Nason (Teresa) and Brenda Barford (John) and her grandchildren, Laura, Julie, Tim, Christian, David and Sophie. Shirley leaves behind four beautiful great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and good friends, who were incredibly helpful to her in her final years.
The family is grateful to all the nurses and doctors who cared for her in her last year of life. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB.
