Obituary
It is with great sadness the family announces the death of Shirley Elizabeth Halsall of Saint John, NB. at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Palliative Care unit, March 21st, 2020.
Shirley was born in Barkers Point, NB, November 26th, 1936. Survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Wendell Halsall, her three children Stephen (Tamara), Karen (Al Williams), and Christopher (Gina Masciandaro) of Montclair, NJ. She was a beloved grandmother of five grandchildren, Lauren, Courtney, Reid, Grant and Grace. Also survived by her brother Allison (Anita) Jewett and her longtime friend Sue Allen and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Walter and Geraldine (Donovan) Jewett and her oldest brother Murray (Anne) Jewett all of Fredericton, NB.
Shirley was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved dancing, playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved cooking and bingo. Shirley loved to travel having taken trips to London, Paris, Hawaii, Tahiti Wellington and throughout Canada and the USA. She worked alongside her husband as a licensed Broker in their family business Halsall Insurance Limited. She went by the motto… “I can do it, I can do it, because my name is Shirley Jewett.”
After cremation a private service will be held to honour Shirley’s wishes. The family would like to thank the caring and attentive staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Hospital.
