Shirley Byer
March 15, 1938 – July 4, 2020
Shirley Ann (Herd)(Galbraith) Byer: born March 15, 1938 at Vancouver General Hospital, daughter of the late John Herd Jr., of Glasgow, Scotland, and the late Mary Adela (Fox) of Montreal, Quebec.
Married at the age of 18 to James Barrie Galbraith of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, 1956;
Married to the late Misha ‘Mitch’ Byer, of Montreal Quebec, 1971;
Survived by her children Peter (Lynn), of Kingston, Ontario, and Sharon, of Montreal, Quebec; an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and life-long friends; and by her partner Evan Patterson, of S. Gloucester, Ontario, whose loving care, devotion, and support for Shirley in her later years are deeply and forever appreciated.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no Visitation or Service. A Celebration of Life will take place at a future date, due to the current National health crisis. Donations made in Shirley’s memory, if so desired, may be directed to fund research into a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.
