It is was shock and profound sadness that we, the family of Shane Hatcher, announce his passing on Sunday, January 26, 2020, in Halifax, at the age of 42. Shane worked with Local 92 for several years.
He will always be lovingly remembered by his mom, Donna Slade (Kevin) and his dad, David Hatcher, his daughter, Paige Hatcher and his sons Cole Hatcher and Gavin Denny, who he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his broken-hearted sister, Tara Matkowski (Dave) and nephew Chase Matkowski who adored him. Shane also leaves behind sisters Jade, Brooke and brother Dylan, maternal grandparents John Fitzgerald and Jane Pieroway (John), and paternal grandmother Selina Hatcher.
He was predeceased by his grandfather Donald Hatcher (Poppa Don).
Shane had an infectious personality. He loved making people laugh. He is going to be sadly missed by so many, especially his Uncle Danny and his cousin Alicia Gardiner, who he had a special connection with.
Visitation for Shane Hatcher will be held Wednesday (today) January 29, 2020, from 6-9 pm. A celebration of his life will take place Thursday at 11 am in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr.
