SEWELL Ken 1947 — 2020

SEWELL, Ken
1947 — 2020
On Monday, February 17, 2020, Ken Sewell (73) passed away peacefully, with his family by his side. Ken will be lovingly remembered by Donna, his wife of 51 years; sons Kirby and Troy (Roxanne); daughter Kenda; granddaughters Taylor and Caitlyn; sister Marlene (Jim) Brown and sister-in-law Sheree (Greg) Emmerson; and numerous other family members and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents George and Gladys; parents-in-law Roy and Kay Nelson; and brother-in-law Ricky (Deidre).
Ken will forever be remembered for his laughter and deep love for his wife, family, and friends. Ken could often be seen working in his garden in Regina, SK and West Kelowna, BC. He also found joy in nature, hunting with friends, and camping with family. He was passionate about athletics, coaching both volleyball and basketball. Ken taught for 30 years in Regina and he spent his final years as a counsellor at Campbell Collegiate.
Ken will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him, but he is now safe in the arms of Jesus. A Celebration of Life was held in his garden, with him present, when he was first diagnosed with PSP. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to PSP Society of Canada, pspsocietycanada.ca, and/or to Crohn’s & Colitis Canada, crohnsandcolitis.ca.
And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
Romans 5: 3-5 NIV
“Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction, in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming.”
“Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”
“Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.”
“The best thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother.”
“I think you have to be what you are. Don’t try to be somebody else. You have to be yourself at all times.”
“One day at a time-this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone…and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering.”
