Obituary
Selina Hatcher
North Sydney
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Selina Hatcher, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, on Thursday April 30, 2020, at the QE II Health Sciences Centre, Halifax Infirmary Site.
Born in Burnt Islands, Newfoundland on December 27, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Nora (Smurridge) Organ. She was a volunteer with the Salvation Army for many years. Selina enjoyed playing bingo and card games, but most of all she was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family. Selina was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.
She is survived by her five sons, Manny (Cathy), North Sydney, Dave, Sydney Mines, Donnie (Darlene MacLennan), Bras d’Or, Tony (Roxanne), North Sydney, John (Nadene Murray), New Waterford, her 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; also surviving is her sister Ruby Whitman, Yarmouth, many nieces and nephews.
Selina was predeceased by her husband Donald Levi Hatcher, six children Frances, Angela, Gwendolyn, Michelle, Woodrow and Roger Lee; also three sisters Ella Mae Munden, Viola Burton and Vera, four brothers Jim, Gordon Bradley and Job Organ.
The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Poulos, nurses and staff at the Northside Community Guest Home, and to the VON for the wonderful care given to our mother during the past few years.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a private family visitation and prayer service in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney with Rev. Douglas Beck officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney at a later date.
