Scott Mercer February 5 2020

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Scott Mercer on February 5th, at the age of 86. Scott was pre-deceased by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Mercer, and his parents, Samuel and Lillian Mercer. In his final moments, Scott was at peace and surrounded by his family. Left with wonderful memories are his children, Darroch (Nancy), Debra (Doug), Jillian (Ken), and Alison (John); and grandchildren, Julia, Anthony, and Megan; his brothers, Robert (Brenda), Rhodie (Wendy); and his special friend and companion, Joan Mayo.
Scott was a former bush pilot, entrepreneur, and avid golfer, who could often be found either on the golf course or at the “Y”. He is remembered by his family as a loving father who always exemplified strength, determination, resilience, and optimism. Personable, and friendly, he was known for his vitality and good humour. Over the past forty-five years, Scott shared a loving friendship with the “Fearless Foursome”, of Reg Whitten, Lloyd Cooke, and Rollie Avery. These loyal friends, along with many others, are left to mourn his passing.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Amanda Tzenov, and nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit for their care and compassion shown towards Scott during his illness.
The family will accept visitors at Carnells Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday February 10 from 11-2 p.m. Funeral service will follow at the Carnell Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Scott’s memory, can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
