Obituary
Parsons, Sandra Ruth
October 17, 1954 – October 13, 2020
Sandy passed away at home, from cancer. She will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Doug and her cat Rupert. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Leone Baker and father-in-law Garnet Parsons. Sandy is survived by her mother-in-law Eveyln Parsons, sister Wendy Baker, brother Terry (Nancy) Baker and sister-in-law Diane (Glen) Adkins. Nephews, Carey (Kristi) Baker and their children Adam and Emma, Cameron (Veronica) and their children Joshua and Katelyn, Drew (Melissa) Adkins and their children Kingston and Brooklyn, and Brett Adkins. Also nieces; Amy (Tae Won) Shin and their children Lucy and Mary, and Amy Adkins. Sandy was born in Kerrobert and grew up on the family farm in Denzil. She completed high school in Denzil and attended the U of S and the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences, graduating as an Animal Health Technologist. Her 42 year career spanned private practice, research and instructing at Saskatchewan Poly Tech. Sandy was proud to be a “Vet Tech” and worked to improve the profession by serving, in various capacities, on the Provincial Vet Tech Association as well as acting and serving as the Western Canadian representative on the International Credentialing Committee. In her private life Sandy enjoyed time at the lake, travelling and gardening, but her true passion was for quilting and the fabric arts. She was a long time member of the Saskatoon Quilters’ Guild and always looked forward to work shops and retreats with “the girls”. Over the years her quilting “skill” was recognized with numerous awards. The family extends sincere thanks and appreciation to the Palliative Home Care nurses and the Cancer Pain and Symptom Management team for their caring support. In keeping with Sandy’s wishes, her ashes will be committed back to the earth by the immediate family, and at a future date, as health restrictions allow, a celebration of her life will be held. In the meantime, friends are encouraged to fill a glass with your favorite Merlot and toast her memory. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Sandy’s name may be made to the Saskatoon SPCA, 5028 Clarence Ave South, Grasswood, SK, S7T 1A7.
