Ruth Clark 2020

Ruth Isobel Clark (nee Jamieson), formerly of Oakville, passed away peacefully with family at her side, at Rockwood Terrace, Durham, in her 91st year.
Ruth was predeceased in 1988 by her devoted husband Robert “Bob” Clark, of Oakville, whom she married at Bronte United Church on September 6, 1947. Born on December 17, 1929, in Kettleby, Ontario, to the late Clifford and Lyda Jamieson (nee Dorsey). Leaving behind her children George of Chatham, Fred (Mary) of Toronto, Brian of Durham, and Maryanne (Carl) Holst of RR1 Elmwood. Remembered by grandchildren Kevin, Julie, David, Michael, Cliff, Karen, Michelle, and Kathryn, and 15 great-grandchildren. Fondly remembered by sister Merle Trebble of Oakville, and sister-in-law Joan Jamieson of Brantford.
Ruth grew up on Trail Farm, Palermo where her father Cliff Jamieson was foreman for General Greenly. In her teens the family settled in Bronte, and she worked full time at the age of 14 at the old Oakville Basket Factory, where her mother Lyda invited fellow worker Bob Clark to come to their house to play their piano. They were wed 18 months later and settled on the 6th Line in Oakville, eventually winding up on Pallatine Drive, where she lived for 46 years, before relocating to Grey County.
Ruth was an animal lover to her various pets (as pictured here with Grand-doggie ‘Dodi’), volunteered for the Altruists Club of Oakville, and St. Simon’s Church. She loved to bake and was an immaculate housekeeper and care giver to her husband and family. She loved the outdoors and sewing as well. She had respect and love for her parents and her mother in law. Ruth was proud of surviving a health crisis in 1971 when she acquired Guillain Barre Syndrome. She was also proud of her independence.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, from 6-8 pm, where a Private Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 10:30 am. Interment in Trafalgar Lawn Cemetery, Oakville.
Memorial donations to the Oakville Humane Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
