It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Russell John Nighswander on December 24th, 2019 in Edmonton, Alberta at the University of Alberta Hospital as the result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident near Stettler, Alberta on December 17, 2019.
Russell is predeceased by his father Ronald Frederick Nighswander of Botha, Alberta and his mother Emma Harriett Hoffman (nee Padberg), of Sibbald, Alberta.
Russell is survived and will be dearly missed by his two daughters Tammy Nighswander (husband Wes Ehler) and Cindy Schultz (husband Chris Schultz); brothers Leonard and Barrie Nighswander; stepfather Theodore Hoffman as well as several close friends.
Russ was born January 25, 1953, and raised in Stettler, Alberta. He had a passion for motorcycles which took him on countless trips around North America, making many good friends along the way. Russ had a kind and giving nature and he was always willing to help anyone, anytime. His passing is a tragic loss to his loving family and the communities in which he was a large part of.
Friends and family are invited to the Stettler Funeral Home & Crematorium 4707 – 70th Street Stettler, Alberta, on Saturday February 1st from 1pm to 4pm to eat, drink and share memories and stories of Russ.
Memorial Donations may be made to the Alberta Lung Association or to a charity of your choice.
