Obituary
On Sunday, February 23rd, 2020, Pat passed away peacefully at 6:50 p.m. in the Intensive Care Unit at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. He was 68 years old. Many relatives were by his side.
Pat was born on November 25th, 1951 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, son of Christina & Russell Edward Gossfeld. He never married or had children, he did have one true love “Samantha” whom he lost in March 1996 and was a “nanny” to many nieces and nephews. He had much love, respect & admiration for our mother, Tina, Aunties Sally, Darlene, Minnie, Emma & Uncles John & Alec.
He is survived by brothers: Dan (Marge) Murdock; Richard (Elma) Gossfeld; Lawson (Alice), Darryl Flett
He is survived by sisters: Gail (Jerry) McDonald from NCN; Donna (Dennis) Vivier; Lorna (Bird nee Flett); Joanne (Gary) Chassie, from Vancouver, B.C.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends
Pat was predeceased by: his ancestral grandparents, his parents: Christina & Russel Gossfeld: step-mom Helen; his sisters; Bonnie, Jennie Marilyn, Daphne & Cheryl, his brothers: Herman: Russell John; Georgie; numerous aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.
Pat had a big heart & rarely let his emotions loose. He was a sports freak & a Boston Bruins fan but was a Winnipeg Jets convert. He was a walking encyclopedia & addicted to Jeopardy. This was his show and he knew most of the answers. Before he lost his vision, he was an avid reader and cardplayer (bug or bee, crib, Yahtzee, 10000, etc.) & did word puzzles of all kinds: Sudoku, cryptograms, etc.
Pat lived life that way he chose to. He saw no need to impress anyone. He regarded himself as the “Handsome Pat Gossfeld!” He goes to a place where he’s in good health, with good people, at peace, and with no more worries or cares. He will be missed and welcomed back home!
A wake will be held at the Eternal Grace funeral home at Logan & McPhillps on Thursday, February 27th at 7 p.m. The funeral will be held on Friday February 28th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will take place and burial will take place at a later date at NCN.
Sincere thanks to the Seven Oaks Dialysis Unit, the Intensive Care Unit at St. Boniface, to the NCN Chief & Council, the NNCEA & NCN community for their never-ending love, support & assistance, to all who sent prayers/condolences & helped in their own special ways. Kinanaskomitan!
