Rudy Cerant Monday December 21st 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rudy Cerant on Monday December 21st.
Rudy was born June 5th 1933 and spent most of his life in Kitchener’s North Ward where he lived for 79 years before moving to Columbia Forest Long Term Care Facility in May of 2011.
Rudy was a jack of all trades. A self-taught car and motorcycle mechanic, electrician and was best known for his ability to fix anything that had resisters, tuners, and a picture tube. His home-based electronics repair shop was located on Ahrens Street and was under the name Doc’s Repair Shop. People would drive for miles to have Rudy repair their t.v.’s, record players and console stereos that were found in most homes in the early 60’s and 70’s.
Rudy will be remembered for his great sense of humour and his incredible understanding of anything that was mechanical. His knowledge of medicine and human anatomy allowed him to converse easily with doctors and specialist that he would see during his lifetime as he was determined to better understand and manage his disability, known as Dystonia.
Rudy leaves behind and will be missed by his youngest Brother Jerry and Sister in Law, Ruth.
Uncle to Joanne, Jim, Bob, Cleo, Penny, Julie, Steven and Nicole Cerant.
Great Uncle of Cameron and Kendra Cerant. Courtney and Colton McMann.
We would like to thank the nurses and the staff, both past and present at Columbia Forest, where Rudy was a resident on the Johnson Floor for 9 years. The tremendous outpouring of love and care that Rudy received from Columbia Forest, provided him with a quality of life he did not have before he became a resident there.
Their ability to continually go above and beyond to provide the very best care, allowed our family and his friends the opportunity to spend more quality time with Rudy, and we are grateful for that.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions there will be no visitation prior to the service and the service will be for the immediate family only.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you please donate to the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation Canada in honour of Rudy dystoniacanada.org
