Ruby “Jean” Hopkins
1927 – 2020
Ruby Jean Hopkins of Harvest Crossing, Tillsonburg, formerly of Springford passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 25th, 2020 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital in her 94th year. Born March 10, 1927 to the late Charles and Mildred (Fallowfield) Wilson.
Jean was predeceased by her loving husband, Alvin Hopkins (1968). Devoted mother of Wayne Hopkins, and Robert (Barbara) Hopkins. Proud and loving grandmother to Jason (Margaret) Hopkins, Rebecca (Paul) Turrill, JC Gilliland, Jaret (Deidre) Hopkins, John Hopkins, and Joel (Nicole) Hopkins. Proud great-grandmother to 12 great-grandchildren.
Dear sister of Douglas (Barbara) Wilson of Tillsonburg. Survived by her sister-in-law, Hilda Avey and brother-in-law, Donald Hopkins. Loving aunt to several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her mother-in-law, Mae Hughes, brother Lyle Wilson, brothers-in-law Charles Hopkins, Howard Avey, and Neil Davison, and sisters-in-law, Marion Hopkins, Doris Davison and daughter-in-law, Sheila Hopkins.
Also survived by long time family friends, James and Mary Jane Pickersgill.
We are sorry to report that due to the ongoing restrictions resulting from the spread of the Coronavirus there can be no community visitations or funeral. A Private family service conducted by Father Osita Oluigbo, of St. John’s Anglican Church, Tillsonburg will be held at Ostrander’s Funeral Home on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. and will be streamed live through the link provided by our website. Inurnment will be held at Springford Cemetery. A Celebration to commemorate Jean’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the MS Society, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the Hopkins family and can be made by contacting Ostrander’s Funeral Home Limited, 43 Bidwell Street, Tillsonburg (519-842-5221) who have been entrusted with arrangements.
