Roy Andres 1940-

Roy Andres
March 2, 1940 – November 3, 2020
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Roy Andres of Kamloops, BC, on November 3, 2020, at the age of 80. Roy passed away peacefully after a brief illness.
Roy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Violet, two daughters, Cheryl McCreight (Jim) and Jayde Andres, and his two grandchildren, Cameron (Jeannine) and Cayleigh. He is also survived by his sister, Irene (Nelson) and his brother, Allan (Trish), as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Roy is predeceased by his parents, David and Elva Andres, and his brother Earl.
Roy was born in Canwood, Saskatchewan, and grew up mainly in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan. He and Violet moved to British Columbia in 1962. In 1969 they moved to Kamloops where Roy worked as a partsman for James International. He then changed careers and worked for Mutual Life as an Insurance Agent, where he would travel over the Interior and Cariboo region of British Columbia, until he retired.
Roy and Vi moved to Vancouver Island and he became a realtor for a short time. When the grandchildren were born, they moved back to Kamloops and bought a small acreage in Del Oro.
Roy enjoyed attending his grandchildrens’ sports activities, which included soccer, basketball, football, horseback riding and horse showing. He had a few horses of his own and liked to ride with his neighbour, Ken. He also loved having his daughters’ dogs come visit. He really enjoyed his life at the farm with big gardens, rabbits, plenty of fruit trees and a swimming pool. He bought himself a portable sawmill and would mill his own lumber. He also built a workshop where he would make beautiful furniture for his family and friends, including benches for the Valleyview and Broncos football teams.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses, caregivers and staff at Blueberry Unit in Overlander Extended Care Hospital, for the exceptional care, compassion and love that Roy received.
In light of the Covid pandemic, a small private gathering of the family will be held at a later date.
Please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, in Roy’s memory.
