Ross Brown Davison, MD, CCFP
1938-2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dr.
Ross Davison, of Bedford NS (formerly Kensington PEI), in his 82nd
year, at the Halifax Infirmary, on Sunday, October 4, 2020. Born in
Charlottetown, PEI on July 23, 1938, to the late Joseph and Louise
(Brown) Davison. Predeceased by his infant son Stephen Ross,
brothers-in-law Paul Cudmore, Vince MacCulloch, Ray Hunt, and Stephen
Pond; sister-in-law Linda Graham and most recently his cousin and
close friend William Brown. He is survived by his loving wife of 54
years Jane (Graham) Davison; daughters Carolyn (Al Dubé),
Victoria, BC; Bonnie (Craig Farish) Victoria, BC; Callie (Stephen)
Cooper, Hammonds Plains, NS, and Susan (Jason) Ragaisis, Nepean, ON;
and grandchildren Jack and Mikaela Dubé, Abby and Desmond
Farish, Camryn and Davis Cooper, and Autumn and Jonah Ragaisis. Also
survived by sisters Jean Cudmore and Elizabeth (Richard) McCrossin,
brother-in-law William Graham, and many loving nieces, nephews,
cousins, and extended family.
A graduate of Dalhousie University Medical School in 1967,
Ross returned to his hometown of Kensington where he carried out his
family practice career for 34 years. He served as coroner for Prince
County for several years and was affiliated with the Prince County
Hospital where he served on a number of boards and committees. He also
served as a member of the board of the College of Family Physicians of
Canada. He was a long-time member of the United Church of Canada where
he had served as an elder. In his leisure time, he enjoyed spending
time with family, long-distance swimming on the north shore,
beachcombing, photography, playing the piano and organ, and holding
people captive with his many stories. He will be remembered fondly by
his grandchildren for his love of chocolate cake, milkshakes,
genealogy lessons, and hosting an annual summer family reunion at his
beloved cottage “The Cove”.
A service to honour his life will be held at Bedford
United Church on October 15 at 11:00 a.m. This service is
open to the public, noting that COVID 19 protocols Of Nova Scotia will
be in place. A live stream will be available on the Bedford United
Church Facebook page. Interment will take place in People’s
Cemetery, Kensington, PEI. Contributions in his memory can be made to
the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Prince County Hospital
Foundation.
