Rose-Aimée Arbour Doyle
1927-2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our
mother Rose Aimée (Arbour) Doyle. She peacefully slipped
into the afterlife at the Campbellton Regional Hospital on October
29th, 2020, at the age of 92 years and 10
months.
She was born in St-Siméon, on the Gaspe Coast, on
December 27, 1927 to Mars and Adeline (Poirier) Arbour. During the
great depression, in 1933 her father lost his job at the mill in
Listuguj where they lived (in the flats) at the time, so they moved to
St-Fidèle. She ended up having to stay home to help her
mother after completing grade 5 but lack of a better education she did
not stop her from becoming a writer for the newspaper “Le
Soleil”. At the age of 18, she married my dad Maurice Doyle and
they had a very happy 24 years until a heart attack took him from her.
They had two girls Irene and Margaret, she kept herself busy bringing
them up.… Many years later she met Adelard Vautour and was
his partner for 25 years, until cancer separated them. She
worked at the Continental store for years. She loved to take photos,
write each day what was happening in her life, she loved to garden,
dance, do puzzles and in her later days she did “Mots
Cachés” till her eyes gave up on her. Until her
admission to the hospital, she lived alone in her home in Cross
Point.
Besides her two daughters, she leaves to mourn two
sisters: Jeanne-Mance (deceased Georges) Pitre and Lucille
(Walter) Caissy; her grandchildren: Johanne, Lisa, Michelle
and Robert; her great Grandchildren: Michelle, Erica, Candice, Shana,
Nathan and Taylor and many great grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, a young sister Alpheda,
Rosaria and brother Evariste, her husband Maurice and her friend
Adelard.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing
protocols, there will be no visitation and no funeral at this
time.
