Rosalie Elkin Sunday January 19 2020

ELKIN, Rosalie – Rosalie Elkin passed away peacefully Sunday evening, January 19, following a fight against pancreatic cancer. Beloved wife of the late Bruce Elkin z”l, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, she is survived by her sister Marcia Greenberg, her children Rabbis Jennifer and Sean Gorman and Russell Elkin, and grandchildren, Jesse, Gavi, and Keren. “You will be missed for your place is empty”( 1 Samuel 20:18). Rosalie was a kind and giving person loving and beloved by so many.
Service is in New Jersey. Burial is in Farmingdale, Long Island.
Immediately following interment, shiva will commence at Merrick Jewish Center, 225 Fox Blvd, Merrick, NY. Shiva in Toronto will be at 42 Cedarcroft Blvd. On Friday, it will be from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Shiva will resume Saturday night at 7:00 PM. Sunday will be from 10:30 AM until after Minchah-Ma’ariv at 5:00 PM, and then again from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Rosalie’s family will get up from shiva Tuesday morning.
Donations can be directed to the Canadiaktn Foundation for Masorti Judaism at www.mercaz.ca/ with specific notation towards child educational programs. As well, donations can be directed to Canadian Friends of Tel Aviv University with specific notation to go to research in pancreatic cancer at Sackler School of Medicine.

  1. Rosalie was a dear friend from childhood, through college and beyond. She was intelligent, artistic and kind. She loved and worried about her children and grandchildren and was very proud of them. Though we had not seen each other for several years our conversations will be missed. My hugs to her beloved family.
