We announce with heavy hearts and after a long courageous illness, the passing of Ron at the age of 40 years old. Ron leaves to mourn his loving family, parents Jacques and Claudette, sister Sherisse, Curt, Bailey and Brittney and brother Jason, Roxie, Kali, Lexi, Sophie and Zach as well as the furry friends. Many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, his Chalet Malouin family and a community that loved and supported him through his life.
Ron was born in Winnipeg and was the third and last sibling to complete the family. He lived his entire life in his home community of St. Malo. He went to school until grade 8 in St. Malo and graduated from ICSP in 1999. He started working for Hytek Ltd where he continued until he first got sick in 2014. On the days that he was well, he spent his time volunteering at the Chalet and was overjoyed to assist and be a part of the seniors’ activities. Ron was able to have his own home which he shared with some friends over the years as well as his 2 dogs Cassie, Kiwi and his cat Boots. In the late summer of 2019, he moved to the Chalet which was well suited for him based on his health and the ability for him to have friends and family near-by to watch over him.
He was thrilled to have the opportunity to play baseball in the St. Malo bar league, be a hockey player on the Remillard team for the yearly family tournament and his Wednesday night Spongers at the St. Malo arena. Ron enjoyed camping and vacationing with his family, casino trips, boating, swimming, quadding, golfing and Xbox gaming.
Ron had a way of putting a smile on people’s faces with his sense of humor, joyful spirit and his teasing ways. He loved everyone for who they were, had a kindred heart, was very forgiving and non-judgmental and always extended his help when he could. He has left his mark on our hearts forever and will be sorely missed.
Ron fought the good fight and battled courageously for many years all while keeping faith. His angel wings were ready but our hearts were not. The memories will now forever be a treasure and one day we will see you on the other side of the stars.
We are truly blessed for all the support during this difficult time. We cannot thank you enough for all of the prayers, hugs, food, flowers and especially love.
We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the staff at the St. Pierre Hospital that helped care for him in the last few months. You treated him like a family member and made him feel loved, for that we will be forever grateful.
Ron, your life was a blessing, your memory will forever be a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Manitoba Neurofibromatosis Support Group at www.mbnf.ca. This foundation provides support, promotes awareness by educating the public and aids in funding research to improve treatment and ultimately find a cure.
