Ronald Gordon Reid November 10 1944 to April 4 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Ronald G. Reid, age 75 years. Ron was a partner and soulmate to his wife Beatrice (nee-Williams) through 54 years of marriage and 62 years of a loving relationship. He was a caring and protective father to his children Ronald Philip (Ronnie or Ron Jr.) and Lori Anna, his grandchildren Alora, Julianna, and Paloma and his daughter-in-law Yvette (nee-Power) and his son-in-law Marc Letzleter. He was a loving and supportive brother, brother-in-law, and uncle to his family, sisters, brothers, nephews, nieces and his other extended family. He was cared for and respected by his large group of friends, neighbors, coworkers and colleagues and even considered a 2nd father by many of his children’s friends.
During his life, Ron was a teacher, a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces Medical Corps, and a successful Regional Manager for Great West Life. He loved to travel and to read, was an avid photographer and painter, enjoyed a social drink and gathering, and was known to strum a tune and sing a song. He was always willing to lend a hand, an ear, a shoulder, or a strong back when needed. He would even offer an opinion or advice, if asked. He was a very warm and welcoming presence, very caring and supportive individual, with a very dry and quick wit. He was fiercely loving and protective, was deeply loved, respected and admired, and he will be greatly missed and often remembered.
Ron is predeceased by his parents, Fred Reid and Bessie (nee-Moore); his brothers, Vern, Fred, and Darrell, and his baby brother and sister Douglas and Judy; his father-in-law Jim Williams and his mother-in-law Ada (nee-Pretty); his sister-in-law Alma (nee-Williams); his brothers-in-law Charles Woodman, Ray Gosse, and Roy Pitcher; and his nephew James Pinsent.
Leaving to mourn and to celebrate his life are his loving family mentioned above and, additionally, his sisters, Marjorie (Ray Gosse – deceased); Phyllis (Irving Moore); Jean (Wayne Pinsent) and Betty (Larry MacIsaac); Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Melba Reid, Mary Reid, Josie Gulliver, Jasper and Florence Williams, Shirley Woodman (Charles-deceased), Ivy Pitcher (Roy-deceased), numerous nieces and nephews – Rodney & Pauline, Tara, Trista, Denise & Valerie, Angie, Judy & Kelley, Lydia, Darlene, Brenda & Pat, Judy, Donna, Dave & Barb, Gary, Jim & Brenda, Sandra, Wayne, Keith & Sherry ; and his special friends – Kay and Kevin, MaryAnn, Patricia, Carole and Graham, Joan and Gerard, Eleanor and Cal, Brenda & Bob, Sonja and Luc, and many more friends who will miss him dearly, as well as a large extended family.
Cremation has taken place and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no visitation or funeral at this time. The family requests that no flowers be sent. However, donations to support Veterans and to the SPCA in Ron’s memory would be appreciated.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Ron’s life will take place at a later date. Please remember Bea and her family in your prayers and reach out in different ways to offer solace and comfort at this most difficult time.
