Ronald Glen Ron Kind Tuesday August 18th 2020

Ronald Glen Kind of Eckville, AB passed away on August 18, 2020 in the Red Deer Hospice. Ron was born on November 25, 1938, one of nine children of John and Celeste Kind. Ron was married to Patricia Ella Wylie on July 8, 1961 in Benalto, AB. Ron took his schooling in the Eckville area and afterwards worked primarily as a water well driller for over forty years, where much of that time he owned Medicine Valley Water Wells with his brother Stan. Ron didn’t pick his last name but he truly exemplified the word “Kind” in his actions and most importantly how he treated others. Mark Twain is quoted as saying, “Kindness is the language the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Ron truly spoke the language of kindness throughout his life. As a result of his incredibly welcoming and humble personality Ron’s kitchen table was always full of family and friends gathered together, laughing and sharing stories. Ron’s favorite thing was instant Taster’s Choice Coffee and we think he enjoyed over 300,000 cups in the past 35 years, for some reason the coffee always tasted better at Ron and Pats. Ron loved tinkering and could fix anything, some of his favorite activities were camping out west where he enjoyed time quadding, sitting around the campfire and most notably, throughout his life, Ron really just loved hanging out in his own home where so many gravitated towards both he and Pat. Most importantly Ron was a loving husband, caring father, loving grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. Ron brought smiles to the faces of many through his entire life, even during his last hours. Ron is survived by his two children, Cindy Cave (Trevor) and Rhonda Volk (Jason), grand-children Preston Cave, Chantel Cave (Cory), Shane Cave (Kari-Anne), Aaron Volk, Jordan Volk, Morgan Volk and Rhyan Volk; great-granddaughter, Saige Cave; sisters, Ellen Forrester, Irene Wickens (Reg), Vera Rennie; sister-in-laws Linda Kind, Linda Kind, Deana Kind and Vera Mottus. Ron was especially close to and was survived by his nephew, Courtnay Wylie (Chantel) and their children, Piper and Paige Wylie. Ron was pre-deceased by his wife, Pat; his father, John Kind; his mother, Celeste Kind; his brothers, Cecile Kind, Les Kind, Ken Kind, Evan Kind, Stan Kind and brother-in-laws; Roy Forrester and Graham Rennie. A Celebration of Life will be held outdoors (due to COVID 19) at Ron and Pat Kind’s family acreage starting at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 5, 2020. Lunch and socializing to take place afterwards. Physical distancing and sanitation protocols will be in place. Please bring your own lawn chair and register your attendance in advance by emailing rvolk@mac.com prior to September 2nd, 2020. If desired, Memorial Donations in Ron’s honor may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society at www.reddeerhospice.com. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com. 1. RIP Ron. I am Jason and Rhonda’s Aunt Debbie, and that is how I know Ron. I got to know him a little better when Rhonda was in the hospital in Edmonton in the late 90’s. I would go out for a smoke with Ron and my sister Sharon when we were visiting Rhonda in the hospital. I remember Ron as quiet gentleman. We shared how amazing his daughter Rhonda was. We talked of her beauty and generous heart. During these smoke break visits I learned how very much Ron loved his daughter Rhonda!
