Romeo Jean-Marc Paquette
PAQUETTE, Romeo Jean-Marc Paquette Jr.
A life-long resident of Sudbury, peacefully passed away on August 11, 2020 at his home. He was born in Dalton, ON, on March 29th, 1933, son of the late Romeo and Jean (Lavoie) Paquette. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Diane (Chartrand) Paquette, and his eight siblings: sister Madeline, and brothers Ben, Roland, Jean-Marc, Andre, Armand, Conrad and Luger. Romeo is survived by his two children, David Marc Paquette (spouse Brenda), Lori-Ann Paquette; his grandchildren Bryan Paquette (spouse Kristine), Ashley Paquette (family pup Draper), and Jennifer Paquette (spouse David); and his beautiful great-grandchildren. He was the Station Agent at Metagama in 1952, when on a trip to Sudbury he met his wife Diane. They were married on April 2nd, 1956 and lived in Metagama for two years before moving to Sudbury, when he was offered a job with Falconbridge Nickel Mines as the Railway Supervisor. In 1991, Romeo retired from Falconbridge after 30 years as Transportation Superintendent and Shift Boss. Romeo was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the Chief Counsellor when District 1387 won Best Counsel of the Year, and went on to become District Chairman for Northern Ontario with the Columbian Squires. He held many offices with 1387; he was the District Marshall with the Fourth Degree for 16 years and a past Navigator with Bishop Scollard Assembly. Romeo was also a Fourth Degree Knight. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather, and always put his family before himself. He took great joy in hunting, fishing, and spending time at his cottage on Lake Fairbank. Family, friends and others whose lives Romeo touched are invited to the Co-Operative Funeral Homes & Chapel on Monday, August 17th, from 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. and later in the evening at 7 p.m – 9 p.m. Due to the current pandemic, masks are required upon entry, with a limit of 20 visitors at a time. A funeral service will be held at St. Andrews Catholic Church on Barrydowne Road, Sudbury, ON, at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18th with a limited capacity of 40 people.
