Rollie MacInnis 19522020

Rollie MacInnis
1952-2020
On a beautiful autumn morning, October 4, John Roland
MacInnis passed peacefully at the age of 68.
Many will know Rollie as a proud North Ender, born and
raised, where he enjoyed the love and support of a wonderful family
and the kindness and care of many friends.
Rollie was born January 8th, 1952. He was the second of nine
children to Marjorie (Hoare) and Rollie MacInnis. He attended St.
John’s Academy, New Glasgow High School and continued his
education graduating from Vocational School. He went on to work at
Maritime Tel and Tel, Westray Coal Mine, Trenton Works, offshore and
as a Welding Inspector here in Pictou County and Alberta. His
determination and consistent work ethic earned him the respect of his
co-workers and supervisors alike.
Hard work and adventure led Rollie to travel across Canada
and abroad. He was particularly fond of his trips to the sunny south
exploring beaches in Costa Rica with his good buddies. Rollie has
always been interested in sports as a player in his younger years and
a fan later. He particularly enjoyed watching his grandson Ethan play
hockey and ball.
He was an enthusiastic outdoorsman participating in hunting,
fishing, and many trips with his sons, brothers, nephews, and friends
to the family camp. He was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge where
he served as President. You could always count on him to volunteer for
many fundraisers to support the Elks and the community. Rollie enjoyed
a good game of cards, a cold beer with friends, but mostly preparing
family dinners for his boys and their
families.
Rollie will be remembered as a loving dad to David, Jason
(Ashley), and Jon (Kristi). He was always there for them with a
listening ear and a word of advice. He was a proud grandfather, always
ready to relate a story about Rebecca, Ethan, Aubrey, and Spencer. He
was a former husband and dear friend of Linda (Canning) MacInnis, and
supportive brother to Collie (Hannah), Joan Crane (Wayne), Jean Burns
(Jamie), Christine Babinec (Roli), Chuckie (Christine), Mike (Kim),
Douglas (Carolyn), Marjorie Sangster (Donnie) and a wonderful uncle to
many nieces and nephews.
Rollie was predeceased by his parents Marjorie and Rollie
MacInnis, his brother Collie, his son David, nephews Ivan and
Jimmy.
Visitation 7-9 pm Wednesday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home,
