Roland “Rolie” Rhodenizer
1939-2020
RHODENIZER, Roland Warren – 81 of Newcombville, went to be
with the Lord on November 11, 2020 in South Shore Regional Hospital,
Bridgewater. Born at home in Auburndale, he was a son of the late Karl
Colin and Bernice Grace (Hebb) Rhodenizer. He was the youngest of nine
children. Rolie is affectionately known as the “Great Pumpkin
Grower”. Summers were spent tending and affectionately directing
the plants to produce massive pumpkins, squash and watermelons.
Throughout the season, many people would visit the gardens. Rolie
always took time to share his knowledge and a few secrets, but with a
twinkle in his blue eyes, you knew he was holding some back. Early
October, they would journey to Windsor to compete against the best in
the world. His walls are adorned with his success as a pumpkin
whisperer. He would willingly share his seeds from his pumpkins with
others. Due to his calm and meticulous personality, he excelled as a
heavy equipment operator, mechanic, welder and fabricator of anything
and everything. When something broke he would find ways to fix it. His
skill as a Dozer operator was unparalleled but never did you hear him
brag or boast. He was that “Guy” that everyone would go to
for advice or guidance. Rolie’s happy place was in the
outdoors. Gardens flourished under his care. His wood lot more
resembled a park than a forest and the freezers would always be full
due to his skill as a hunter. He would tell stories about growing up,
his gardens and hunting – only the hunting stories grew bigger with
the telling. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Michelle (Ferris)
Rhodenizer; son Clay (Sherry), Lillooet BC; grandchildren Michael,
Vancouver, Alicia (Liam), Lillooet BC; sister Muriel Uhlman, New Elm;
sister in law Merna Rhodenizer, Auburndale; brothers in law Bill
(Holly) Lowe, BC, Don Lowe, PEI; numerous nieces and nephews. He was
predeceased by brothers Lawrence, Curtis, Clayton and Moyle; sisters
Hazel, Elise, Grace. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Funeral Service will be held 1:00pm Tuesday in Bridgewater Open Bible
Church, Pastor Jeff Woodcock officiating. In keeping with public
health guidelines, the service will be live streamed from www.bobc.ca
for those who wish to remain at home. Interment will be held in
