Obituary
Roger Bradford Wilcox
January 7, 1939 – December 7, 2020 (age 81)
It is with great sadness to say that my sweet father died peacefully on the evening of December 7, 2020, with his partner of 33 years, Rosette Charet, by his side.
My Dad was born in Los Angeles County, California on January 7, 1939. He was the second of five children born to John and Evangeline Wilcox. He was predeceased by his brother John, and will be lovingly remembered by his sister Joan, his brothers Brian and David, his sister in law Alison, and the rest of the Wilcox family.
His memory will be treasured and he will be very missed by me, Jennifer, as his only surviving child and by his loving partner Rosette. My Dad was sadly predeceased by my sister Heidi and his two stepsons Mithra and Peter. He will be greatly missed by his stepchildren Abraxas and Pixie and the rest of the Charet family.
After graduating from Claremont High School in California, my Dad attended the University of Colorado @ Boulder. It was at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena where he discovered his true passion for photography. This love of photography remained with him throughout life.
My Dad married my Mom Renee and they had two children, my sister Heidi and I. We moved to Canada in 1970, where he worked as a Boom Man right up to his retirement. He loved running along the booms, driving side-winders and being out on the open water.
My Dad also loved to sail and had many sailboats. He took us on many sailing adventures. His other passion was motorcycle racing and he had many motorcycles throughout his life. These passions followed him to Canada where he was able to sail the beautiful BC Coast and race on his motorcycles along the winding roads of the Sunshine Coast. I remember going to the Westwood Racetrack in Coquitlam to watch him race.
In the late 80s my Dad met Rosette who became his partner right up until his death. As he aged, he had to give up his love of motorcycle racing and sailing. He discovered his new love of building beautiful remote control airplanes. He would go to the Sunshine Coast RC Flyers Club, where he could fly his planes with his friends. These were a very special group of friends and he just loved to go there.
He also continued his photography right up until the end.
My Dad will not only be missed by his family but will also be missed by the many friends he found over life. I love him and will miss him dearly…..until I see him again.
