WOLTING: Roelof “Ralph”
Ralph, a resident of Chatham, passed away peacefully at the Copper Terrace Long Term Care Facility early Monday morning, October 19, 2020 at the age of 89.
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” Hebrews 11:1.
Ralph was born in the Netherlands and was the son of the late Egbert and Geertje (Vanderveen) Wolting.
Loving husband of 62 years to Wilhelmina “Willy” (Hopman) Wolting.
Dear father of Ed, Tim (Cheryl), Rick “Rufus” (Jen), and Christa (Randy) Dykstra.
Dear grandpa of Cyndi (Jay) Ploegman, Jessica (Dan) Sunderland, Melissa “Maxx”, Meredith, Alexandra, Tymen, Merek, Luke and Adam. Great-grandpa to Addison, Connor and Amelia.
Pre-deceased by brothers Bill and Diemer and sister Jayne.
Ralph last worked at Chatham Coach Lines. He was a member of Grace Christian Reformed Church, where he served as Cadet Counsellor and Youth Elder. He served his community as a volunteer Probation Officer, as a visitor at the Chatham Jail and at the Drop-In Centre in Chatham. He was instrumental in initiating a Restorative Justice program for Chatham-Kent. Ralph touched many lives in his Jail Ministry.
A private family funeral service will take place with interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
