Obituary of Roderick Wayne Heighton
HEIGHTON, Roderick W. “Rod”
River John
HEIGHTON, Roderick Wayne, age 69 of River John died Thursday, October 29th 2020 at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche. Born in Pictou, he was the son of the late Seldon and Greta (Brown) Heighton. He worked for J.B. Construction Ltd in Truro for 15 years, and then he finished with his uncle and brother. Rod was also a member of the River John Fire Dept for 41 years. He is survived by his wife, Muriel; sons, Quincy (Elaine), Bradley (Danielle); grandchildren, Grayson, Berlyn, Chesney and Ryker; brother, Alvin (Marge); brothers-in-law, Roy Sillers, Allister MacKenzie; many nieces and nephews and Bowron in-laws and families. Rod was predeceased by brothers, Tommy, Donnie and Ray; sisters, Mildred and Alice; nephew, Wayne; aunts and uncles including, Aubrey who resides with his family. Due to covid-19 restrictions, a private family funeral will be held in St John the Baptist Anglican Church, River John at 11 AM Tuesday with Rev. John Morrell officiating. A public graveside service will be held in Caribou River Upper Cemetery at 12 PM following the service. Donations in Rod’s memory may be made to the River John Fire Department, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
