Roderick MacKinnon, 75, Florence,
We regret to announce the passing of Roderick MacKinnon, age 75, on the 3rd of December 2020 at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by family.
Born in Florence on March 22nd 1945, Roddie was the son of the late Stephen and Florence (Coakley) Mackinnon. Roddie is survived by his wife of 51 years, Connie (MacLennan); his daughters Anne Marie Mackinnon, Florence, Lisa Mackinnon, Sydney, Wendy McGean (Martin), Truro; 6 grandchildren whom he adored, Robert, Jonathan and Brandon, Florence, Avery and Sarah, Sydney, Rebecca, Truro.
Roddie is also survived by brother Leo (Josie), Ontario; sisters Marguerite MacIntyre, Sydney Mines and Sharon (Doug Swail), Ontario.
Besides his parents Roddie was predeceased by his brothers Johnny, Frank, Anthony, Benny, Henry, and sisters Catherine and Adelaide.
He worked a total of 32 years in the Princess Coal Mines, and in later years at the Victoria Junction Coal Preparation Plant before retiring.
Poppy was always happy having his grandkids close by. He loved playing card games and darts. He was especially fond of the wonderful nurses that took care of him on dialysis; and the nurses on the 4th floor at Northside General Hospital. There will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Donations in his memory may be made to the heart and stroke foundation. Words of comfort can be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
