With great reluctance Dad Dropped anchor and came ashore one last time, with his wife and daughter by his side at the Boyne Lodge in Carman, he left this world September 7th 2020
Born May 27th 1933.
Survived by his loving Wife of 60 years Margaret Cox (Lenz) his sister Jill Cox (England). Robin will be missed by his children Teresa (Terry) Jackson B.C., Pamela Cox (Troy) B.C., David Cox (Louis) B.C., Shawn Cox (Crystal) MB, Michael Cox (Vivian) U.K. Tawny Cox-Veldman (Scott) and numerous grand and great grandchildren.
Born in St. Albans England, Growing up during WW2, was the inspiration for him to join the Royal Navy at the age of 15, where he served for 10 years in submarines, then transferred to Canadian Navy, serving for 20 years, then 5 years at HMCS Chippawa in Winnipeg, finally retiring from service in 1978. Moving to Carman in 1988, Dad continued to work on a mostly volunteer basis coaching soccer, which he loved immensely, and if you grew up in Carman during the 90’s and 00’s he was likely your coach! He also spent many summers as head coach at the Peace Garden Athletic Camp, soccer program. He also served 2 terms as president of the Legion Branch 18, and served on the Prarie Rose School Division.
Dad was a recipient of the Caring Canadian, Governor Generals award in 2015.
Dad moved to the Boyne Lodge in Carman where he spent 4 wonderful years. He had a fantastic quality of life in a safe and caring environment.
We are grateful to the staff for his excellent care and support. We had so much fun there the last few years!
Our Dad will be truly missed by all of his us and we will love our dad forever. We are grateful to have had such a caring and loving father.
May you remember his Jolly and generous nature and may his memory bring a smile to your face.
Celebration of life and internment to be held Tuesday September 15th at 2:00pm at the Greenwood Cemetery, Carman and will open to the public, please be mindful of public health recommendations
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boyne Lodge in Carman or to any Youth Sports programs.
