The family announces, with great sorrow, her death in Sudbury on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the age of 83 years. Roberta was the wife of the late Raymond Charbonneau (predeceased 1990). She is predeceased by her parents Leonard and Diane (née Legault), St. George. Loving mother of Carmen Bowhey (Daniel), Guy “Mark”, Daniel (Lise) and Carol Tolen (Bill). Dear sister of Jocelyne Currie (Albert), Lorraine Chauvin (Paul) and Carmen Tayles. Predeceased by her siblings Gerry St. George (Pauline), Claire Gagnon (Michel) and Pauline Hilsinger (Keith). Cherished grandmother of Natalie, Stephanie, Peter, Gary, Ansley, Meredith and great-grandmother of Hailey, Michael, Tyler, Jessica, Isabelle, Anthony and Lucas. Roberta, originally from Cache Bay, graduated from the Marymount School of Nursing in 1957. She married Raymond in 1958 in Sudbury where they raised their family of four children in Northern Heights. She worked at the Sudbury General Hospital and at the Sudbury Algoma Hospital for many years. The family wishes to thank the staff of both the Red Oak Villa and Pioneer Manor (Mallard wing) for their outstanding professional and compassionate care. The family wishes to acknowledge her special friend Ome Landry who was so dear to her. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A celebration of life will be held this summer. Donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or Pet Save are being accepted in Roberta’s memory and can be made by cheque or online. www.cooperativefuneralhome.ca.
