1926-2020
Robert “Robbie”
J. Burke, 93 years of age, of Amherst, passed away
peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2020 at the All Saints Hospital,
Springhill. Born in Joggins, he was a son of the late Albert &
Daisy (Melanson) Burke.
Robbie worked as a Service Manager at
Amherst Chrysler for over 40 years. He loved gardening, camping,
woodworking, clamming, watching Blue Jays baseball and spending time
with family and friends. His earlier years were spent in Parrsboro,
where he enjoyed curling, being a member of the Parrsboro Citizens
Band and leading the Sea Cadets.
Robbie will be sadly missed by his
loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis (Carr) Burke, daughter, Marcia Sparks
(Doug) of Amherst, sons, Robert (Susan) of Amherst, Barry (Cindy) of
Amherst, grandchildren, Deanna, Christopher, Amelia, Brittany, Hayley;
great grandchildren, Madelaine, Audrey & Cheyenne, sister,
Patricia Hacking of BC; several nieces and
nephews.
Besides his parents, Robert was
predeceased by his daughter, Elaine Burke- Gauvin, brother,
Bernard.
Arrangements are under the care and
direction of Jones Family Funeral Centre,
70 Church St., Amherst, NS, (902-667-8777). No visitation by request.
A private graveside service will be held at Saint Brigid’s Cemetery,
Parrsboro at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorial
contributions may be made to All Saints Springhill Hospital,
Palliative Care or a charity of your choice.
