Robert Hutchison
On July 18th 2020, with breaking hearts, we said goodbye to our dad, grandpa/papa and best friend. Dad was born on March 19, 1931 in Saskatoon to Clara and Ross Hutchison. Dad’s first job was in 1949 with the CN Railline with a section crew. He worked his way up to a dragline operator where he worked throughout western Canada. In the summer of 1953 he met the love of his life Gwen Dolphin and they were married in October. In November 1954 Robert Jr was born, followed by Bonnie in 1957 and Bradley in 1963. In 1954 dad was sworn in as a constable with the Saskatoon City Police Department. When he joined the force he was 6’2” and a lean 210 lbs. We were entertained many times with stories of his six and half year career with the force. With a young family mom didn’t like dad’s shift work so he resigned from his position to start work with the Saskatoon Board of Education as a driving instructor. He retired from his position as Coordinator of Driver Education for the public school board in 1991. Mom and dad moved to the cabin at Emma lake in that same year. Dad became involved with many things and clubs at the lake which they were recognized for as Citizens of the Year in 1998. Mom and dad returned to Saskatoon in 2005 and dad has resided here until his death. Dad is survived by son Robert(Leann) and son Brad (Kelly). Grand children Nadine(Matt) Nichol, Amanda (Mark) Gajadhar, Travis (Jayne) Hutchison, Ryan and Ashlyn Hutchison as well as 8 great grandchildren. Dad was predeceased by his wife Gwen, parents Ross and Clara Hutchison, daughter Bonnie and brother James. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Christopher cemetery at Box 7 Christopher Lake Sk. S0J0N0.
