Robert Gerald McCutcheon
It is with great sadness that
we announce the passing of Robert Gerald McCutcheon, 92, at The
Moncton Hospital on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, with his loving daughter,
Anita and grandson, John, at his side.
Born January 14, 1928, in
Olinville, NB, Bob was the son of the late Thomas and Bessie (Braydon)
McCutcheon.
As a young man,
Bob’s family moved to Saint John, where he created some of
his fondest memories. He was active in tennis and golf and also
belonged to a city bowling league. Bob began his long, fulfilling
career in the insurance industry in Saint John and following his
marriage to Nita Colwell (Rothesay) in 1960, they relocated to
Moncton, where Bob began working for Mutual Life of Canada until his
retirement from Sun Life in 1997. In his later years, Bob enjoyed
watching the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs and professional
tennis on television. He looked forward to chatting with friends as he
walked around his neighborhood in Kingswood Park
daily.
Bob’s family was so
important to him, as he especially enjoyed special occasions when
family gathered. Bob and his brothers were blessed to have remained
very close throughout the years, talking regularly with each other. As
well, he was thankful for the close relationship he had with his
cousin, Leslie Short.
Bob will be missed by his
loving daughters, Anita McCutcheon Boudreau (John) of Moncton and
Karen Scullion (John) of Fredericton; cherished grandchildren, John
Robert Boudreau of Moncton and Stephanie Wilson (Nick) of Fredericton
and their children, Collin and Athena; brothers, Malcolm (late Alma),
Earle (late Jackie); brother-in-law, Carman R. Colwell (Ellen) and
numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents,
Bob was predeceased by his wife, Nita (May 2017) and sister, Vera
McCauley.
Visitation will be held at
Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on
Saturday, July 18, 2020 from 12:30 to 1:30 pm, followed immediately by
a Service to celebrate and honour Bob’s life at 1:30 pm in
Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Scott Ryder officiating.
Social distancing must be respected at all times due to the current
COVID-19 restrictions and wearing of a mask is suggested by the
family. Interment will be held in Cedar Hill Ext. Cemetery, Saint
John.
Bob’s service will
