FISHER, Robert Edwin “Bob” – Age 84, Waterville, Kings Co. passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2020, at home with his wife and daughter by his side. Born on December 6, 1935 in Berwick, Kings Co., he was the son of the late George W. and Frances M. (Avery) Fisher. He was a descendant of Matthew Fisher, the founder of Somerset, Kings Co. and he truly enjoyed talking about his family history. Robert served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1954-1977, with postings throughout Canada. He was especially proud of his time serving his country as a Peace Keeper at UNEF-Gaza (Camp Rafah) in 1966-1967. After retiring from the military, he took over the family farm in Somerset. He loved farming and trying new varieties of crops. He was a true family man and loved spending time with his children and grandson. His love and care for Mary, never-ending! Bob enjoyed going for drives and listening to old country and gospel music with Mary. Dad and Mom enjoyed visiting with family and friends, especially those on the front verandah at home. He was quick to tease and torment, he loved to laugh and he enjoyed talking about life and current events. Robert is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Mary C. Hirtle; daughters, Robyn (Pete) Henderson, Grafton; Krista (Andrew), Calgary, AB; grandson, William (Rachel) Henderson, Wolfville; and daughter-in-law, Bonnie Fisher, Garland. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Gregory Fisher and sister, Helen Fisher in infancy. There will be no visitation or service as per his wishes. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Kathy Hyde, the team at Careforce (Margaret, Amanda and Gloria), Dr. Robin Bustin and the team at Larry’s Pharmacy to help Dad remain at home alongside Mom – his truest wish. Interment will be in the Berwick Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to your local food bank.
