Passed away, peacefully, on November 26, 2020 at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital, Robert Donald Hornby, a long-time Tillsonburg resident, at the age of 92. Bob was the youngest of ten children and the youngest of five brothers who served in the military during World War Two. He enjoyed golf, travel and humour. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 153, Tillsonburg. Loving father to Marilyn Pankhurst (Fred), Kathy Hornby, Bonnie Cronkwright, late Roger Hornby, and Dan Hornby (Eden). Cherished grandpa to Melissa Kristiansen (Jason), Cara Hornby McLellan, Christopher Yam (Yvonne), Matthew Pankhurst (Jocelynn), Adam Pankhurst, Harrison, Dylan, Gillian, late Jack, Tyson and Ethan Hornby. Great grandpa to Jared and Kyle Kristiansen and Keegan and Finley McLellan. Caring spouse and companion to Mary VanMaele and her children: Richard VanMaele (Kim), Joanne Freund (Joel), Michele Mostacci (Luc), and their children: David, Jena, and Kendra, and Anthony and Megan. Predeceased by a son Roger (1994) and a grandson Jack (2005). Also predeceased by parents Elsie Lenore Kilshaw and William Hornby, five brothers Charlie (Bertha), Jim (Bernice), George (Irma), Gerry (Mae), and Billy. Four sisters Elsie Spence (Dave) Erie Harris (Doug), Norma and Connie Hornby. As per Robert’s request, he bequeathed his remains for medical research. A private family service will take place at a later date at the Delmer Cemetery.
