Robert Cecil Conrad Monday February 10th 2020

Robert Cecil Conrad
It is with deep sadness that the family of Robert Cecil Conrad announce his death on February 10, 2020. Born on January 29, 1947, Robert was raised in Queensland, Nova Scotia where he developed a love of fishing at a young age. He followed that love into an over 55-year-long career as a bluefin tuna and mackerel fisherman in St. Margaret’s Bay which gave way to him holding leadership roles with the Nova Scotia Mackerel Association and the St. Margaret’s Bay Tuna Fisherman’s Association. In addition to his love of fishing, Robert was a man of faith which led him to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Theology in 1991 from Atlantic Union College. While he chose fishing as his career, Robert was very involved in his church and his community. He was always willing to pitch in where needed volunteering for various community organizations and church programs over the years. He embraced adventure and lifelong learning. One never knew what new project Robert would come up with or what new activity he would dive into. As a result, Robert had a wide circle of friends and connections, all of whom played a big role in bringing joy into his life. A truly multi-faceted man, Robert was deeply loved by his wife and children and the loss of his presence in their lives will be great. He is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughters Sarah (Jimmy) and Robin; grand-daughter Gemma; sisters-in-law Maureen (Russell) and Welda; uncle Murray (Julia); aunt Eva; and many nieces and nephews. Robert’s family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Bruce Colwell, Janice R.N., Dr. Randy Colwell, and the nurses from the SSRH Mat-Child unit. A service will take place 11am on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Black Point and Area Community Centre (8579 St. Margaret’s Bay Road, Black Point, NS). There will be no burial service. In keeping with Robert’s love for and dedication to his community, the family requests in lieu of flowers donations are given to the Hubbards Area Food Bank, Health Services Foundation of the South Shore, or the charity of your choice.
