Robert Bernard
Robert Bernard, 87 of Adamsville,
passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital, on Friday, November
27, 2020. Born in 1933, he was the son of the late Ben and Zelie
Bernard.
Robert was a cattle and pig farmer who
loved to work the land and plant a garden. He served on the Adamsville
Parish Council, the Board of Directors of the Moncton Co-op, and
served as firefighter and Fire Chief at the Harcourt Fire Station for
several years. Robert’s favourite hobby was working with
wood to build intricate pieces of furniture. He loved his family and
was deeply loved.
Robert is survived by his three
sisters: Edna Cormier of Moncton, Rita (Leo) Bastarache of Adamsville,
Louise (Clifford) Roy of Moncton, and sister-in-law Barbara (Brian)
Fillmore. He leaves behind twenty-four nieces/nephews, sixty-four
great nieces/nephews and many great-great nieces, nephews and
cousins.
In addition to his parents he was
pre-deceased by his wife Margaret, five brothers – Francois,
Edmond, Armand, Alcide, Albert, two sisters – Yvonne and
Marie, seven nieces and nephews, and many aunts and
uncles.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions a private
family service will be held at Fergusons Funeral home, 1657 Mountain
Rd. Moncton (506-858-1995). Interment will be in St.
Timothy’s Catholic Cemetery, Adamsville.
Memorial donations in
Robert’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society
(www.cancer.ca). A
celebration of life will be held at a later date.
