ROBBINS KATHLEEN HARRIS
It is with deep sadness that the family of Robbins announces her passing on Saturday March 7, 2020. She passed peacefully with family at her side at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.
Robbins leaves behind to mourn, her children Jennifer (Harlen) Strudwick, Kieth Lischka (Alex Castro and her son Mathias Allard), Monique Lischka (Victor Renauld) and Amanda (Chris) Davidson and grandchildren Jordyn, Drayden, Sydney, Lauren, Mikayla and Ryder and great granddaughter Adisyn; her mother Maxine Harris, her sisters Rowenna Moore, Renneta (Roy) Godfrey, Rexlynn (Brian) VanDeWoestyne, and brother Ralph (Karen) Harris as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her dear friend and partner Bruce Haggerstone and her father Bert.
Robbins was born in Birch River, Manitoba to Bert and Maxine Harris on September 23, 1953. She was the eldest of five children. She grew up in Breeze and Steelman, Sk and lived her early adult life there, raising her family and farming with former husband Ken. She began her nursing career as an EMT and went on to get her LPN and RN degrees, at the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Arts and Science, in 1994. Robbins worked at various hospitals in Saskatchewan and British Columbia, which in time took her to Vancouver Island and to The Lodge on 4th retirement home, in Ladysmith BC, from which she had very recently retired. At one point in her very busy life, she also ran a bed and breakfast on Salt Spring Island. No matter where she lived, she always pursued her passion for gardening and could make any space a gardener’s delight. She also very much enjoyed travelling, hiking, camping and fishing. She was an excellent cook and baker and had a way of always making her home cozy and inviting. Her greatest joy was giving care and comforting people.
She was positive, strong and courageous to the end.
Thank you to the many medical staff for their efforts, kindness and compassion in caring for Robbins to the end of her life’s journey.
A CELEBRATION OF LIFE will be held at a future date. Family and friends will be notified of details once final arrangements have been made.
Donations to honour the memory of Robbins can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or charity of your choice.
