It is with great sadness that the family of the late Richard Guy Penney announce his passing on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 79 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Joan of 52 years and his children: Sherri Lynn Griffin (Robert) and Shelli Lee Penney (Nathan); his precious grandchildren Emma and Chase whom he loved so dearly; brother Frank (Renée); brothers-in-law: Ignatius Lee (Gladys), Henry Lee (Darlene), James Lee (Ann), Aubrey Lee (Susan), Leo Lee (Yvonne) and Larry Lee (Karen); sisters-in-law Anne McNeil (Terry), Susan Lee and Mary Lee; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Guy was predeceased by his parents Frank and Jean Penney, brothers Keith and John Penney and sister Idella Hammond. Guy always had a story/joke to tell, he had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. He loved to read and spent many hours at the library. He loved his grandchildren more than anything and he cherished every moment spent with them. His family would like to thank all the staff on 3A and Palliative Care at Western Memorial with a special thank you to Dr. Whitten and Wendy for all their kindness and care. Cremation has taken place. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Saturday, January 25 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow beginning at 3:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel with Rev.
