Tributes
The family of Richard (Rick) Ward are very saddened to announce his passing at the Queensway Carleton Hospital on Thursday, July 9th 2020.
Rick was born in Ottawa, the youngest son of the late Douglas and Joyce Ward of Westboro. He will be very much missed by his sisters Linda Thorpe (Zane), Jackie Brennan (Jay), brothers Doug Ward, Ted Ward (Brenda) Father of three, Tammy, Brian, and Tracy and four grandchildren. He will also be greatly missed by his best friend Paul Bennett (Wendy). Survived by many nieces and nephews.
Rick was a skilled carpenter finishing his apprenticeship in 1982. He proved to be an excellent tradesman. He was hard working, honest, intelligent and was well respected as a construction estimator and project coordinator by his peers and all who knew him. He worked for several years with Kearney Construction then went on to form his own contracting company Benward Construction enjoying much success until ill health forced him to leave the industry.
Rick will be forever remembered for his wicked sense of humor. He was an avid Sens, 67’s, Jays and Redblacks fan.
The family would like to thank Paul Bennett for his care and friendship to Rick over many years. Rick enjoyed many adventurous road trips to cottage country with Paul as well as many sporting events Paul took him to. Also, we would like to thank all the kind doctors, nurses & staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for their care and compassion in Ricks final days. Thank you to Granite Ridge Community Living for their excellent care.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no service at this time. If you wish, donations in memory of Rick can be made to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Condolences, tributes, and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
