Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Leslie Johnsen on December 9, 2020 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre, Blairmore, AB. He was 80 years of age.
Richard was born on May 3, 1940 in Kimberley, BC to proud parents, Alex and Christine Johnsen. As a young man he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy where he proudly serviced his country for many years. In 2014, he relocated to the Crowsnest Pass to enjoy the beauty of the area, and to be closer to two of his siblings.
Richard was an active and adventurous person. He enjoyed skiing, hiking and fishing, and loved to travel abroad. He also spent many happy hours creating home-built aircrafts and remote-control airplanes. Richard’s kind, vibrant spirit will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life is his sister, Gale Johnsen of Coleman, AB; his brothers, Dennis Johnsen of Gabriola, BC and Robert Johnsen of Sparwood, BC; as well as many friends.
He was predeceased by his mother, Christine Johnsen (Née: Steppling); his father, Alex Johnsen; and his brother, Wayne Johnsen.
A Graveside Service will be held in Kimberley, BC at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be gratefully accepted by the charity of your choice. Condolences may be registered at www.fantinsfuneralchapel.ca.
