Obituary
SHANNER, Richard Wilhelm “Dick”
October 3, 1935 – December 1, 2020
After an extremely full and healthy life, the family announces Dick’s peaceful passing with shock and sadness. He was raised on a farm near Estevan, SK. After various jobs he began his 35 year career with SaskPower/SaskEnergy. After working and living throughout the province, he retired in 1993 in Saskatoon. He married Carol Anderson in 1963. They have two children and four grandchildren who are their joy. Throughout his life he spent many hours with family and friends over food, drinks, games, and coffee at McDonalds. Weekends and summers were often spent at the family cabin at Lac La Ronge. He loved to travel internationally if someone planned the trip. His nickname was “Mr. Fix-it” and if Dick couldn’t fix it to last, it can’t be fixed. He is survived by his wife of 57 years Carol; daughter Shelley (Ron) Gerbrandt of Saskatoon and children Benjamin (deceased), Jeremy, and Jessica; son Dwight (Collette) Shanner of Summerland, B.C. and children Corwin and Rachel; siblings Roy (Ethel), Clara Lapointe, Bob (Faye), Don (Helene), Linda (Arnold) Campbell and their families; sister-in-law Sharon (Wes) Seebach and family. We would like to extend a heart felt thanks to the Oncology team on 6100 at RUH. Dick’s 24 day battle with AML leads us to request that in lieu of flowers, donations are to be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020.
