Reginald’s Obituary
BARNARD, Reginald Wilson – age 91, Roseway Manor, Sandy Point, formerly of Amirault’s Hill, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Monday, July 13, 2020 in the Manor. Born June 25, 1929 in Ecum Secum, he was a son of the late Henry and Laura (Bezanson) Barnard. Reg began his working life in Ecum Secum fishing alongside his father, after which he moved to Halifax where he worked for Sherwin-Williams, then as a school custodian and finally as a correctional officer until he and his wife moved to her native village of Amirault’s Hill. He then worked as a custodian at Arcadia school, at the Department of Fisheries offices and at Canada Post in Yarmouth. He also did some house painting, and was known to be a meticulous painter. Many people will remember Reg for his passion for cars and keeping them immaculately clean and well-waxed. Reg is survived by many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Fanny E. (Bourque) Barnard as well as by many siblings and extended family. Visitation will take place from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, July 17 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Amirault’s Hill, Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiating. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating will be limited at both the funeral home and the church and social distancing guidelines must be followed. Also, please note that immediate family will be given priority for seating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Holy Family Cemetery Fund.
