Raymond F. McNutt
1950-2020
Raymond F. McNutt – 70 of Kentville,
passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in the Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville. Ray was born in Aldershot, Kings County on January 20, 1950
to Raymond J. McNutt and Elizabeth Mary Roy. In 1965 Ray joined the
West Nova Scotia Regiment and worked his way through the ranks
retiring with the rank of Captain in 1985. After high school he went
to work for Argo Flooring Ltd. in Kentville from 1970 – 1979
as flooring salesman. In 1979 along with his business partner, Bernie
Davies, they opened and operated Best Buy Flooring until they sold the
company on their retirement in April 2013. After Ray’s
retirement from WNSR he was able to spend more time at the family
cottage at Armstrong Lake, East Dalhousie. He enjoyed the four
seasons, hunting in the fall, snowmobiling in the winter, fishing in
the spring and enjoying summers on the deck. In his retirement years
he and Kathy enjoyed their winter vacations in Florida and travelling
to various places in Canada and USA. We all loved to tease Ray about
being “frugal”, however anyone that truly knew him
appreciated he was always generous with his time and gave financial
aid to those in need, as well as being a supporter of many
organizations. Ray was a quiet pillar of strength to all of us.
Besides his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Diane (Arenburg);
brother-in-law, Barry Peterson. He is survived by his common law
spouse, Kathy Jones; his sons, Adam, Kentville; Anthony (Veronica),
Bedford; sisters, Roseann (Les) Johnson, Cambridge; Lila Peterson,
Cambridge; brothers, Douglas (Marilyn), Blake (Patti), both of
Kentville; Paul (Tammy), New Minas; Wayne, Canaan; Kathy’s
daughter, Tracy Sitland (Scott) and grandchildren, Emma, Joshua,
Tyler; several nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. There
will be no visitation, by request. A celebration of life will take
place from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, February 9,
2020 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. Family flowers only.
Donations in memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and
Stroke Foundation, Valley Regional Hospital or a charity of your
choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Merryweather and the
Oncology team, as well as Dr. Matt Targett and the doctors, nurses and
staff of Valley Regional Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
