Obituary of Ralph James McVety
McVETY, Ralph James
Suddenly, on October 14, 2020, Ralph James McVety passed away at the Kingston General Hospital. Predeceased by parents Everett and Naomia, brother William (Bill), sister Velma and brother in law Ian. Remembered by his siblings, Mert (Ellen), Alden (Sandee), Donald and special sister Faye (Raymond) and their families. Special brother in law and uncle to Bonnie and her family. Missed sadly by the very caring staff and friends at Grosvenor Home, Ongwanada, who gave Ralph the genuine experience of belonging to a family. Moving from an institution into community living was a blessing for Ralph. He was able to experience a more purposeful life, independence, a home setting, walks in his local park and many outings. He especially loved going for drives, buffet restaurants with several servings of ice cream and coffee. Although he could not speak, he had his own way of communicating, with special grins and smirks and would let you know of displeasure too. We thank the many staff at Ongwanada and related community partners for being Ralph’s voice, caregivers, friends and family over the years. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at James Reid Funeral Home and KGH. Ralph is resting at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. Donations in Ralph’s memory may be made to Martha’s Table or the Kingston Food Bank. May he be at peace.
“My heart fills with gladness when I hear the trill, of the birds in the treetops on Mockingbird Hill”
