Ralph “Joe” Curtis Steeves
1936-2020
Ralph “Joe” Curtis Steeves, 84, of Forest Dale
Home and formerly of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on
October 3rd, 2020 at the home with his family by his
side. Joe was born in Lower Coverdale on May 16,1936 the son
of the late Curtis and Olive (McLong) Steeves.
Joe worked at CNR until his retirement. He was an
avid outdoorsman, a true Albert County man. He was a member
of the Albert County Trail Blazers Association and Albert County
Hunters Association. He loved cross country skiing and walking in
the woods. He spent a lot of time on the
water as well, he had a pleasure boat and was a member of the Cocagne
Marina Club. He was very fond of dogs and always had a dog
by his side when he was able. He was a man of few words but
he had a heart of gold and his big hands were always there to lift you
up or help if you needed anything. He is now at peace with
nature and with God.
He will be missed by his children, Gwen McCarthy (Tim) of
Fredericton and Terry Steeves of Riverview; his grandchildren, Curtis
and Meg McCarthy and by his great grandson, Issa McCarthy; sister,
Dorothy Doucet of Oakville, ON. He will also be
missed by his special friend, Gayle Steeves of Hillsborough and her
daughter, Rachel Steeves and Kurt Cail who knew Joe as Grampy; also by
several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his wife,
Margaret (Baxter) Steeves and by his sister, Audrey
Wilson-Power.
Honouring Joe’s own wishes there will be no visitation or
funeral service. A graveside service will be held for family
and close friends at the Wilmot Cemetery, Lower Coverdale on
Tuesday, October 6th at 11:00am with social distancing in
place.
For those who wish donations to the Wilmot Cemetery would
be greatly appreciated.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the
Albert County Community Health Center, Dr. Ronald Garston, Extra Mural
Team and to the Forest Dale Home for all the support and care
given. It gave us great comfort to know that Joe was so well
looked after and you all went above and beyond in helping through his
illness. Last but not least to the Albert County
Funeral Home, Lisa and Casey, you have helped us through this time and
made things so much easier. We are so grateful for
our small community and all the blessings it is to have personalized
care.
Arrangements are in the care of the Albert County Funeral
