Ralph Adrian Carr 2020

Obituary of Ralph Adrian Carr
Mr. Ralph Adrian Carr was born on November 7, 1944 in Saint John, NB; he was the son of the late Ross and Marjorie (Mills) Carr.
Ralph was a hardworking, passionate, kind-hearted and wonderful man. He had a fantastic sense of humor and a contagious smile. He had a way about him that could calm a person or smooth a situation in a matter of moments. He had a strong and rich faith and was very active in his church.
He was an advocate for the underdog and was always there with a helping hand, whether it was the shirt off his back or simple advice. He was the epitome of compassion.
He loved to laugh and loved to talk, but there was nothing he loved more than his family. Ralph married the love of his life, Nancy Power on March 27, 1967 and together they would celebrate 53 beautiful years together.
Ralph often said that his heart belonged to Sus from the moment that he, Nancy, and their family moved to our community. For those of us who knew him this was never in doubt.
His pride in his town was never hidden and for many years he proudly attached his Sus license plate to every vehicle he owned.
He turned that pride into service in 1988 and served as a counselor until his passion for making our community a better place to live, work and grow inspired him to run for mayor in 2001, a position he held until 2012.
He has been our longest serving mayor although Ralph chose to step away from the pace of leading our town, he continued to serve all of us as deputy Mayor until his health forced him to retire that position two years ago.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a chairperson for the Kiwanis Nursing Home, a board member for the Fundy Trail, a proud volunteer of over 30 years for Canadian Blood Services and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Sus Branch #20. He had a passion for baseball, bowling, swimming and especially golf.
Ralph was popular, congenial and caring, he loved his community and our community loved him. He will be missed.
He will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 53 years, Nancy (Power) Carr; his son, Michael Carr of Sus; his daughter-in-law, Becky Kunze-Carr of Apohaqui; his siblings: Frank Carr and his wife Janice, Mallory Phillipson, Cara Stewart and Wade Carr and his Partner, Guylaine Castonguay all of Saint John; his brother-in-law, Robert Power and his wife Edie of Beresford; his grandchildren: Clayton, Jesse, Jacob, Brittney, Hailey and Jack; his great granddaughter, Nova; his pride and joy, Princess; as well as several nieces and nephews and his family from the Island.
Mr. Ralph Adrian Carr of Sus passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on April 27, 2020 at the age of 75.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his son, Christopher and his daughter, Andrea.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home (506-433-1176), 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sus, NB. Due to COVID-19, visitation and a Celebration of Ralph’s life will be held at a later date.
