R. Edward “Ed” Haggerty
1934-2020
Raymond Edward “Ed” Haggerty, P.Eng, age
85, of Fredericton, NB died on Tuesday January 14, 2020 at
the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital.
Born in Pennfield, NB, and raised in Charlotte county, son of
the late Raymond and Amy (Justason) Haggerty. Ed Graduated from
Eastern Charlotte Regional School and continued on to receive a
B.Sc.EE from the University of New Brunswick in 1959.
Ed worked his entire career at NB Power, serving in a variety
of rolls. He was a lifelong member of the APEGNB and served as its
president in 1977.
Ed was an active member of the community, serving in various
roles when his children were young and more recently as a member of
the city’s curling club.
Ed is survived by his 2nd wife, Marie (Leland) Haggerty, his
four children, Sean (Jennifer) and their children Cicely and Aidan of
Es Junction, VT; Michael (Lori) and their children Emily, Megan and
Matthew of Fredericton, NB; Kathleen and her son Sawyer of
Fredericton, NB; Kevin (Amy) and their children Liam, Grace and
Catherine of Stittsville, ON and many nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his first
wife, Beth (Cronin) Haggerty, sister, Marlene Richardson and brother,
Joe Haggerty.
In keeping with Ed’s wishes, there will be no
funeral service or visitation held at this time. A Celebration of Life
will follow in the summer.
For those who wish, donations in memory of Ed may be made to
a charity of one’s choice.
