Obituary for Polly Jean LeVecque
Polly Jean LeVecque
(nee Kereluk)
Nov 16, 1924 – Jan 23, 2020
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the age of 95. Born in Gilbert Plains, Manitoba to Florence and Harry Kereluk after they had immigrated from Ukraine in 1910. Polly was born on the farm into a family of 10 children of which she was the last surviving sibling. Polly moved to Winnipeg to attend business college when she was 18. There she met her future husband, the late Joseph A. LeVecque from Verona, Ontario. Shortly afterwards he was shipped overseas to serve in WW11. They wed in 1948 after he returned. The family moved to Dauphin in 1962 and then returned to Winnipeg in 1971. Polly enjoyed her years working at Boeing of Canada in Winnipeg. They had 4 children and were married for 33 years until Joe’s passing in 1981. After being alone for many years she married her friend, Peter Neczkar of Winnipeg. They were together for 12 happy years. This past summer Polly moved to Toronto to be closer to her daughters. Polly was very social and loved being busy. She had several passions, including her vegetable gardens, crocheting, cross stitch and sewing, whipping up delicious meals especially her famous perogies and cinnamon buns for family and friends. Polly travelled to many different countries which she felt so privileged to experience. Polly is survived by her son David LeVecque and wife Terri of Sherwood Park, AB; daughter Fay Jarvis and husband David of Toronto, ON; daughter Jacqueline Latam and husband Wayne of Kingsville, ON; and daughter Lynn Hunt and husband Warren of Kingston, ON. Polly is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. The family would like to thank the amazing caregivers who helped Polly over the last several years while she lived at Kiwanis Courts and Oakview Place in Winnipeg and the Rekai Centre in Toronto. A special thank you to Jennifer Morland and Marilyn Moroz of Winnipeg for their dedicated care and kindness. Without their help we could not have respected Mom’s desire to remain in Winnipeg for as long as she could. As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will be at Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Winnipeg. Condolences maybe left at www.aftercare.org. For those who wish, donations in memory of Polly can be made to the Alzheimer’s society.
You are free now Mom, we love you.
