Phyllis “Lorna” Martinson
1935-2020
Phyllis “Lorna” Martinson – age 85, passed
away in Heart of the Valley, Middleton, NS on November 5, 2020. Born
in Digby on October 1, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Claude
and Constance “Connie” (Woodman) Connell. Lorna attended
school in Digby and graduated from The Provincial Normal School in
Truro. She taught school for many years in Digby, Fort George
(Chisasibi) Northern Quebec, Freeport and Kitkatla BC. Lorna entered
The Sisterhood of St. John the Divine (Anglican Church of Canada)
Toronto, Ontario, after leaving Fort George. She was a devout
Christian and lifelong member of the Anglican Church. Lorna received
joy in helping others and teaching Christianity. She was predeceased
by her brother, Edward “Chub” and her husband, Rev. Canon
John Cecil Martinson. Lorna is survived by her brothers, Kenneth
(Maxine), Smith’s Cove and Jack, Digby; many nieces, nephews and
cousins. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by
request. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a very limited gathering will
be held and will be by invitation only. Special thanks to the staff of
Heart of the Valley for their care and support. In lieu of flowers,
donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral
arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and
Cremation Services, Kentville.
